Tips to Wax Your Windsurfing Board

Surf wax is the stuff that makes your feet stay to the top of your surfboard. The quality of wax you use on your surfboard can determine how long you can stand on your board without slipping.

Waxing your board on the beach is a good idea before you have spent time in the water. After a while you will likely need to reapply the wax. By using the proper waxing technique in addition to a proper base coat will help wax remain sticky to your board.

For a better result, wax your clean surf board in a crisscross pattern. To do this, you need to apply the wax in one diagonal direction and then after about eight or 10 strokes switch and apply the wax in the opposite diagonal direction. The crisscross pattern will create a solid base for the next application of wax.

You may want to use circular motions to apply wax again over your crisscross design to ensure full wax coverage. This will keep your board in the water for the first hour or so at the least. The crisscross and circular application may eventually go away prolonged activity so place wax on your person before paddling out to surf.

When you notice the grip becoming slippery or less tactile, simply reapply wax on your windsurfer board in the water. Do not repeat the crisscross technique if you want to reapply it. Better to make big circles with the wax on your board. This method will last until the end of your session.

Learn the different kinds of surf wax that made to work in different water temperatures. You must have surf wax that is suited to the water conditions you surf in. Do not forget to put a heavy coat of wax on your board every time you go surfing while you are learning.
